Urinetown: Text

Early on in the design prosses, I wanted to make a clear distinction between the clean world and the dirty world. However, I was unable to add dirt to the costume and had to find another solution. I decided to play with a strong difference of texture and color. The rebels would come to have the colorings of rust along with more patterns and textures to help add to the look of grime. While the UGC workers would have clean, slick, and tidy cloths. It was also important to me to show the relationship and the contrast between Cladwell and his daughter Hope. To do so, I gave them the same color pallet, but lighter and darker version of each other. I also wanted to highlight the trade off of power. In doing so, Cladwell became stripped of his jacket while Hope adds on one of her own as she takes over UGC
